The Gallery exhibits some of Sundeep's photography work under
various categories. On this page Sundeep gives some
information about each gallery.
Publications
I regularly supply photos to
The Times of India and
See
Goa, a monthly publication. Other recent commissions
were for magazines in London, San Francisco, Mumbai and
Delhi. The publications gallery has some recent photos
taken for Indian publications promoting local
businesses in Goa. There are also some photos of the
actress, model and presenter, Kelly Brook, taken at
Cannes Film Festival 2008 (for Real Holywood Co.) which have
appeared in various publications.
Fashion
The photos in
my fashion gallery were all taken on location in India, for designers of clothes that market in Asia
and Europe.
Architecture & Interiors
I like to focus on a building's interesting details, for
it is here that the architectural beauty is often
found, in
features or perspectives that the architect may not have
imagined would get much attention. Extreme angles can
give parallel lines strong convergence, and these feature a
lot in my architecture & interiors gallery. Compositions
with some form of symmetry, or repeating patterns often
work well. (see
Taj
Hotel's roof,
Mumbai)
Creative Studio
I find that it pays to be bold with
lighting. You often find that you get effects that you
never intended but which really work. What you end up
with is often dramatic and cinematic.
Portraits
A good portrait photographer should always reflect the
personality of the sitter, their life or their
interests. Each portrait session is different, so to the
end product: classy, formal, light hearted
and relaxed, contemporary, candid or animated photos -
your freedom in style is unfettered.
Photojournalism
As a photojournalist, I try to follow a few simple
rules. The photojournalist should tell a story with a
photo. Great photojournalism captures an instant of life
and enshrines it; frozen emotions and fine details can
only really be truly appreciated and scrutinised in a
photograph, which makes the art form unique. I always try to make sure that my photos
have all the story elements in the composition: facial
expression and body language; the subject's hands busy
doing something or holding something; important
background elements and features to give context.
Events
Big or small, formal or informal, conferences, corporate
hospitality functions, launches, presentations, PR,
charity fundraisers, festivals, sporting events...all
these events come packed with surprises. I love
photographing carnivals, parties and parades since they
are such happy occasions - and so full of colour.
Corporate
The challenge when doing corporate work is to bring the
client's particular vision, product or service, latest
promotion, brochure or annual report to life in an
interesting and visually effective way. Each job is
different; every company is different, with different
people working for it.
Often the photographer's job is to communicate the
feelings, intentions and ideas of the people what make
up the client's business. If portraits are required,
relaxed contemporary studio photographs are very
effective; studio lighting gives flexibility
and great scope for creativity. However, more formal
corporate photography may be more appropriate,
reflecting the client's personality.
The latter photos in the corporate gallery show that even the most
mundane of products have fine details (representing
often hundreds of hours of design and development work)
that can be brought to life and presented in an
interesting and artistic manner.
I'm House Photographer for Non-Multiplex Cinema. Here's

Weddings
Great wedding photographs should capture love, joy and
excitement and the little details: the rites, customs,
costumes, table settings, decorations - the embroidery
and trimmings - and the spirit of the festivities.
I love shooting some photos in black and white; the
neutral tones give a sense of timelessness to a photo
which is ideal for weddings. Therefore, some black and
white shots always appear in my wedding photographs
supplied to clients.
Food
When taking photographs of food for restaurant menus or
websites, I always go for colour, getting really close
up to the subject matter. Markets are great places to
photograph food, and with everything out on display
there are no shortage of interesting angles and
perspectives you can photograph.
Yoga
I
have carved out a niche doing photography
portfolios for
yoga instructors and yoga school owners, as well as
portfolios for massage and holistic
therapies. I am a qualified
yoga instructor which gives me an insider's knowledge of
the asanas (yoga positions) and my clients'
requirements.
Massage & Holistic Therapies
The massage practiced in the massage section of the
gallery is called Chavutti Thirumal
and originates from Kerala in South India. The majority
of the massage is done by foot pressure, with the
therapist using a rope for balance, and the client
usually naked.
Still Life
With my flower photographs in the gallery, I experimented with
composition and then edited to leave only the flowers against
a totally black background.
Travel
I always try to get natural 'candid' travel photos with
the subject doing something as part of their daily
activities (unaware that I am taking a photo of
them). I think good travel photographs should tell a
story - which effectively blurs the categories of
photojournalism and travel in many respects.
Children
In my work as a trustee of a charity called Little Blind
People, I have spent a lot of time in Punjab,
India, where many of my photos of children were taken.
Children in India have an wonderful innocence about them
and they love to play for the camera; they find the
experience of viewing photos of themselves on my camera
truly magical.
